How to Tie a Hindu Head Scarf
- 1). Pull your hair into a ponytail, if it's long enough. Make sure the ponytail is just above the base of your skull. If your hair isn't long enough for a ponytail, the scarf will hold it back.
- 2). Fold the scarf lengthwise, starting from the bottom, into 2- to 3-inch folds so that you have a narrow band.
- 3). Place the middle of the scarf across your forehead and knot it at the back of your head, just above the base of your skull. If you have a ponytail, wrap the scarf around the top of the ponytail and tie a knot.
- 4). Let the ends of the scarf hang loose down your back, over each shoulder or place both ends over one shoulder.
- 1). Hold the scarf behind your head lengthwise so that the top hem covers the top half of your forehead.
- 2). Bring the sides into the middle behind your head and twist the scarf into a long rope, making sure it feels secure on your head, but not too tight.
- 3). Tie the twisted scarf into a knot at the base of your skull. The loose ends may be worn down your back like a ponytail or over your shoulder.
