The town is located between the sea and the mountains, so as well as some great beaches, there are also the lesser known lakes and rivers of the region, which make Dalaman a good place for those seeking adventure and activity as well sun and sand.

Bodrum, Turkey
This lively Turkish resort has been generously blessed by Mother Nature, with warm blue seas and normally warm blue skies too. A major resort, Bodrum is also the most attractive town on the Aegean coast and despite attracting holidaymakers from all over Europe, it retains an exotic Turkish atmosphere. It's popularity has meant that it's also easy to get there with plenty of airlines offering flights to Bodrum [http://www.skyscanner.net/flights-to/bjv/cheap-flights-to-bodrum-airport.html] all year round.

Tenerife, Spain
Deemed the 'island of eternal spring' the hot sun is balanced perfectly by pleasant sea breezes, and with 270 km of coastline to its name, Tenerife is a beach-lover's paradise with white sand, volcanic sand and secluded cove beaches to choose from.

Paphos, Cyprus
Unlike the other resorts on the island such as Ayia Napa, Paphos is open for business all year round. And there are no less than eleven blue flag beaches in this region, making it an ideal base for exploring gems such as Konnos Bay, Cape Greco or nearby Coral Bay. Flights to Paphos are frequent with several carriers serving routes from various airports in the UK and Europe.

Marrakech, Morocco
As the summer fades in the UK, this lively Moroccan city remains warm. Going to the Djemaa el Fna, a large market place in Marrakesh's medina quarter (old city), in the evening is a great experience with as many local Arabs enjoying it as tourists.

New York, USA
A restless city moving at a frenetic pace and ever on the edge of invention, New York remains one of the most iconic cities on the planet. And autumn in the Big Apple is a great time to go; the heat and humidity of summer has died off, giving way to mild and pleasant weather, with the added bonus of fewer summer crowds.

Malta
This Mediterranean island is ideal for a summer break with plenty on offer including sun bathing, fine dining, scuba diving, hiking and biking. The Maltese are renowned for their hospitality, friendliness and generosity so expect a warm welcome as well as warm weather.

Alicante
One of Britain's most loved Spanish sun spots, Alicante has miles of beach terrain on its doorstep. Along with all that sun, sand and water sports, (which make ideal family fun!) Alicante itself is a historic Mediterranean port with picturesque harbours, café lined streets, busy markets and flashy marinas.

Pula
Though Croatia is growing in popularity with British tourists, it still receives a tiny proportion compared to Spain, France or Italy. Croatia's warm autumn and abundance of beaches and islands (there are 1185 of them) along the Dalmatian Coast make it an ideal alternative to better known destinations, and it's also a cheaper option too.
