Princess Peach Tree Growing Conditions

10

    Sun and Heat

    • The tree requires as much sun as it can get, especially during the growing season. Peaches grow best when the weather stays hot. They can tolerate humidity. In the winter, very cold temperatures or a late frost may reduce the number of blossoms the tree produces.

    Soil

    • The soil should fall into a pH range of 5.5 to 7. You may need to prepare the soil for one to two years by adding organic matter or lime to the planting area to reach the correct pH. The trees thrive in mostly sandy loamy soils, but can also grow in some clay soils if organic matter gets mixed into the planting hole.

    Moisture

    • Princess peach trees do not grow well in soils where water remains on the surface for more than an hour after a major rainstorm. Instead, the tree requires well-drained soil, preferably on a small hill where the water easily drains away.
