Aggression in Dogs

Dealing with aggressive dogs Aggression in dogs can be very alarming.
Many owners become very frustrated trying to control their aggressive dogs while at the same time trying desperately to find a reason and solution to their aggressive behavior.
Some breeds of dog are naturally more aggressive than others, but there can be many reasons for aggressive behavior such as fear, anxiety, insecurity, inbreeding, jealousy, abuse, illness and pain.
Sometimes aggressive behavior in dogs can be limited to specific situations, this can be easier to control.
For example a dog that tends to get aggressive when the paper boy calls, can be distracted to do something else when that time approaches, but unpredictable aggression in dogs is more difficult to control as it can happen without warning.
This situation can become very worrying as the dog may turn on another dog, or in fact a human at anytime, without any sort of provocation.
Some of the larger breeds of dogs can be particularly aggressive and are actually trained to guard property and attack intruders if necessary.
These dogs are specially bred and need to have handlers that are trained to work with the dogs and understand them completely.
But even the smallest dogs can be aggressive and become a nightmare for their owners.
A good training program is essential for all dogs but especially for those with aggressive behavior or one day the dog could easily attack a child.
Aggression in dogs can be associated with dominance problems.
Who's the alpha dog in your house? It should be you.
Make sure your dog knows where he stands in the pack (your family) and he'll be a lot happier with life.
If your dog shows aggressive behavior around food, make sure he's fed on his own in a different room.
Here he won't feel threatened and think anyone is about to steel his food.
Is he getting regular exercise? this is a good outlet for pent up emotions and will help to keep your pet healthy and fit.
But keep him on a lead at all times in case he shows any signs of aggression and consider investing in a muzzle for when he's out.
Some aggressive problems in dogs can be related to an inadequate diet so make sure your pet is eating a balanced, diet with plenty of raw and unprocessed food.
Speak to your vet if you are not sure about this.
It may also be an idea to ask your vet about having your dog neutered if all else fails.
Natural herbal and homeopathic potions are also available to reduce aggression in dogs and calm anxious and highly strung animals.
This remedy will allow your dog to relax and enjoy the company of other people and animals.
