New Delhi Metallo-Beta-Lactamase–Producing Enterobacteriaceae
MICs in the absence and presence of a combination of 0.2 mmol/L EDTA (Sigma-Aldrich, St. Louis, MO, USA) and 0.02 mmol/L 1,10-phenanthroline (Acros Organics, Geel, Belgium) were determined as described by using screening wells containing IMP at concentrations ranging from 0.25 μg/mL through 1,024 μg/mL. A ratio ≥4 in the IMP MIC compared with the IMP MIC in the presence of chelators (IMP+EP) was considered a positive result for MBL production. K. pneumoniae ATCC BAA-2146 and P. aeruginosa ATCC 27853 were used as positive and negative controls, respectively.
