Convert an MP4 File Into an M4V File

• 1). Download and install iTunes. Access Apple's iTunes product page and click the "Download iTunes" button in the upper-right area. Select the iTunes version for your computer's operating system and click "Download Now." Save the iTunes EXE file in your preferred location and run it once the download has completed. Follow the installation instructions.
  
  
• 2). Add your MP4 file to your iTunes library. Open iTunes, go to "File" on the program menu and click "Add File to Library." In the "Add to Library" window, navigate to the location of your MP4 file, select it and click "Open." Alternatively, you can just double-click on the filename.
  
  
• 3). Convert your MP4 file to M4V format. Your added MP4 file will be located under the "Movies" tab in the iTunes source menu. Right-click on the MP4 file and select "Convert Selection for iPod." A status bar will appear in the iTunes window tracking the file conversion progress. When the conversion has finished, the converted M4V file will appear alongside the source file.
  
  
• 4). Add your converted M4V file to your iPod. Attach your iPod to your computer with the dock connector. Once iTunes recognizes the iPod, it will automatically sync and upload the video to the device.
  
  
• 5). Preview your converted M4V file in your iPod. Turn on your iPod and access your converted M4V file under "Videos" on the main menu. Highlight the title and activate it to play. If the video does not stream successfully, then delete the converted M4V file from your iTunes library and start the conversion process over.
