Most companies, in their standard quotes and estimates, give you a price based on them showing up at your home, and loading boxes that you packed.
Once they get to your new home, they simply unload the boxes onto your front lawn, your garage, or another designated area that is close to the truck.

This will essentially make sure that you get a full service move, and not the standard, hit and run kind of deal.
By doing this, you are also providing yourself with a signed contract to protect yourself in the event that the moving company doesn't live up to its end of the agreed upon terms.
Door to door moving companies are definitely the way to go, especially with moves that involve a large amount of belongings or in cases where some of your furniture is too bulky, heavy, or awkward for you to move on your own.
The next time you are planning a move, make sure that your contract is notated correctly, and ensure that yourself, and the person you are dealing with from the movers are on the same page so that everyone knows what the completed job is supposed to include.
