As a wedding minister I've officiated wedding ceremonies at just about every wedding chapel in my city.
Through that experience I can offer a few ideas that may help you decide whether it is the kind of wedding venue where you would like to have your ceremony.
First, there are different kinds or styles to choose from.
Some were originally churches and have been remodeled.
These will tend to be older in appearance and may be just what you like.
Others are newly built but still look like churches.
One in my area was built to look like a rustic log cabin type church.
There is another a few miles away that is part of a pioneer village.
Buildings in the village have been used for front covers of the Little House on the Prairie series of books.
Another one in my area is located in a state park.
It is a beautiful rock chapel nestled among the trees and is the location of the first Cumberland Presbyterian Church in the state.
One advantage of using a wedding chapel is that they usually have a reception area.
Most that I have seen aren't that big so you could be limited in the number of people that you invite.
But if you are just eloping that is not an issue.
Some places have an elopement special usually on Friday where you come in, do a quick ceremony and you are on your way.
This option is fairly inexpensive, though you can add some extras such as photography.
The only way to know for sure if a wedding chapel is right for you is to go visit a few.
You can learn a lot on line, but it's important too to meet the people who will be helping you.
You want someone who takes a genuine interest in you and still enjoys weddings.
If it is just an employee not the owner, they may not do a great job for you.
They may have done so many weddings, they are just burned out.
