Step-by-Step Ghillie Suit Making
- 1). Cut out four pieces of foam padding with the scissors to fit your elbows and knees.
- 2). Apply Shoe Goo to the four pieces of foam padding and stick the foam padding to the elbows and the knees of the flight suit.
- 3). Cut seven square pieces of black netting with the scissors. Two pieces of netting should be the size of the back of your torso and the front of your torso from neck to crotch. The next two pieces of netting should be large enough to wrap around each leg from thigh to ankle. Another two pieces of netting should be large enough to wrap around each arm from shoulder to wrist. The final piece of netting should be about twice the size of your boonie hat.
- 4). Sew six of the pieces of black netting to the outside of the flight suit using the black thread and the sewing needle. Simple stitches tied off with square knots will work fine. Sew the netting every four or five inches until you have secured netting to the entire flight suit from ankles to neck.
- 5). Sew the last piece of black netting to the top of the boonie hat using the black thread and the sewing needle. Stitch the netting to the boonie hat every four or five inches, leaving the excess netting to hang off the sides of the hat.
- 6). Cut the camouflage burlap into strips one inch wide and about one foot long with the scissors. You will need enough strips to cover the entire flight suit and the hat, so cut at least 200 strips; add more later if necessary.
- 7). Tie the end of each camouflage burlap strip to the black netting on the flight suit and the boonie hat. Continue until the flight suit and the boonie hat are covered in burlap strips.
- 8). Tear each burlap strip on the flight suit and the boonie hat until they are heavily frayed. Be sure and tear every strip of burlap you tied to the netting in a random fashion.
