How to Stop a Zip Line
- 1). Locate a suitable object near the end of the zip line run to which you can attach one end of the bungee cord. A sturdy tree will do; otherwise, consider mounting a 4 x 4 post into the ground nearby.
- 2). Take the plastic block from the bungee brake kit and attach it to the zip line. Put the nuts and bolts in place to secure it and check to make sure the block cannot come off of the cable.
- 3). Attach the bungee cord to the post or tree. By firmly securing an eye bolt in the object, you should be able to loop the bungee cord through the eye hole and tie a strong knot.
- 4). Attach the other end of the bungee cord to the plastic block on the cable. Tying a strong knot here will be the best method, also.
- 5). Test the brake before the first zip line run. Mounting a weighted sand bag or similar heavy object to the zip line trolley should do. When it hits the bungee brake, the bungee should stretch and bring the sand bag slowly to a stop. If the knots hold, you're ready to use the zip line.
