How to Make a Halo Master Chief Costume
- 1). Remove the visor of the helmet and set it aside. Spray paint the entire helmet earth-brown, and allow it to dry. Repaint it entirely hunter-green, and use the fine sandpaper to wear away small patches of green to reveal areas of brown.
This process will give the armor the appearance of being well-used and dirty, a technique that should be applied to every painted piece of armor in the costume. - 2). Paint the chest piece of the body armor earth-brown and then hunter-green. The paint should mimic Master Chief's armor by beginning at the lower sternum and extending upwards towards the collarbones.
Use pictures of the Master Chief for a comparison. - 3). Cover only the front shin-covering part of the leg guards with the brown-and-green paint combination.
- 4). Cover the entire square back of the gloves (the armored part included) with the brown and green mixture of paint. When that's dry, paint in three black circles, set in a triangular pattern.
- 5). Paint the toe and about four inches of the front of the boot brown and green, as well as an angled strip from the top of the forward ankle to the bottom of the heel. Leave everything else black.
- 6). Allow everything to dry thoroughly. Once it has dried, attach the visor to the helmet and put the helmet on.
