How to Unload a Muzzleloader Rifle With Compressed Air
- 1). Keep your firearm pointed in a safe direction at all times. Ensure the safety is on at all times. This must be completed at the firing range or out in the field. Do not transport your firearm loaded. Remove the flint, percussion cap or flash powder from the rifle.
- 2). Screw the CO2 canister into the discharge kit. Ensure the canister is punctured by pulling the air release level and listening for a blast of air.
- 3). Place the nozzle of the discharge kit into the percussion nipple or against the flash hole of the flintlock. Pull the air release lever until the entire charge is ejected from the barrel. Never look down the barrel to ensure it is cleared. Always assume the rifle is still loaded, and treat it as such.
