Snow Slide

• A roof rake is a plastic snow shovel at the end of a telescoping arm. One of the issues that people have with a roof rake is having to reach the top of the snow on the roof and somehow get the rake into the show and down to the roof. A snow slide is a dull blade with a vinyl slide attached to it. You place the blade an inch above the snow line and push upward. • Snow cutters are a combination of a snow slide and a roof rake. A snow cutter is designed like a roof rake with a plastic snow shovel head, but the flip side of the head has a dull blade on it. You use the blade to cut up through the snow as you would a snow slide, and then flip the head over to bring the snow down. This is a good device to use on ice-covered snow that will not easily fall from a roof. The snow slide relies on gravity to bring down the snow while the snow cutter allows you to apply force.
  
  

Heat Tape

• It is extremely dangerous to get up on a roof and try to remove snow manually. An untrained professional should not attempted manual roof snow removal for any reason. But you can plan ahead and install heat tape on your roof to melt the snow without having to use a roof rake. Heat tape should be installed by a professional contractor and it can be used to remove snow from your roof and keep ice out of the gutters.
  
  

Pressured Steam

• If you do not have a roof rake and you need to have snow removed from your roof immediately, then contact a roofing professional that offers a pressured steam removal process. The steam will remove the snow from the roof and the ice from the gutters. There will be residual snow that will turn to ice on your roof, but the small amount of ice that will form will not be a danger to your home.
