Ghanshyam Sarda To Extend Full Support To Jute Industry

26
The scenario of the jute industry in West Bengal and the rest of India has taken a nosedive. With some of the leading jute mills across the country closing down, a worse time has hit the industry. The very recent and heinous murder of the CEO at the Northbrook jute mill certainly acts as a great setback for the industry. The CEO was brutally killed in broad daylight as a number of outsiders entered the premises of the jute mill and surrounded him. A great ruckus was created inside the jute mill and the CEO beaten to death. A number of reasons have played a major role in making the industry face a very tough situation.

The central government has not come up with any meaningful orders for the jute sector off late. The jute sector is suffering from lack of orders recently. There is also a very stiff competition from the neighboring country of Bangladesh. Bangladesh offers an export subsidy to the buyers which the Indian government just cannot afford. A 20 percent export subsidy on jute materials from Bangladesh has made many of the buyers opt for it. The Indian jute industry sector is certainly suffering and industrialist Ghanshyam Sarda is quite worried about it. As one of the pioneer jute industry leaders from the state of West Bengal, Mr. Sarda always wants the industry to improve and make a concrete name for itself in the outside world. But a number of recent problems has taken a heavy toll on it.

The sudden emergence of a multiple number of unions is also one of the major problems which have been hampering the sector. The current union is only involved in mismanagement and has not been able to control the situation in any of the jute mills.

Every time, an union related problem occurs, the local leaders intervene and aggravate it further. The Ghanshyam Sarda Kolkata group wants this problem to mitigate at the earliest. A variety of measures are being to bring back the jute industry to normal. The industry leaders have appealed to all to stay united at this stage and curb the problems in the jute sector. The government working at the state and central level should take immediate steps to make the industry function like before. A recent appointment with the chief minister of West Bengal has been called for in this regard. The chief minister has called for an industrialization drive in the state and it remains to be seen what can be done for further welfare.
