IP Address Conflict: Unable to Change Address
- 1). Click the Start menu and go into the "Control Panel." Select "Network and Internet" and then click the option for "Network and Sharing Center." Click the option for "Manage network connections."
- 2). Right-click your Internet connection and select "Properties" from the context menu.
- 3). Go to the "Networking" tab and click the "Properties" button.
- 4). Put a check in the box for "Obtain an IP address automatically" and " Obtain DNS server address automatically." Click the "OK" button to save the changes.
- 5). Repeat this process on another computer that has an IP address conflict.
- 1). Click the Start button and select the option for "Run." Type "cmd" in the text box and press the "Enter" key. This will open a DOS prompt.
- 2). Type "cd.." and press "Enter." Repeat this step to go to the root of the C drive.
- 3). Type "ipconfig/release" and wait while Windows releases your current IP address.
- 4). Type "ipconfig/renew" and wait while Windows renews the IP address.
- 5). Repeat this process on another computer that has an IP address conflict.
