How to Make a Knit Collar for a Sweater
- 1). Cast on the number of stitches called for in your pattern, using the recommended yarn weight and thickness of circular needles. For knit two, purl two ribbing, cast on an even number of stitches.
- 2). Turn all the stitches so that the cast-on edge faces down and the working yarn hangs from the last stitch you cast on, which is on the needle in your right hand. The stitches should be evenly spaced, all the way around your circular needles.
- 3). Insert the right needle into the first stitch on the left needle. Knit it with the working yarn to join the collar and begin working in the round.
- 4). Knit another stitch, purl two stitches, and alternate knit two, purl two ribbing all the way around, until you have worked every stitch you cast on.
- 5). Continue in knit two, purl two ribbing until the collar is as long as you want it to be. Switch to the stitch called for in the pattern to create the body of the sweater.
