    Rice cereal treats

    • Rice cereal treats are a popular dessert for kids of all ages. The basic recipe is easy to make. There are different options for adding a Christmas theme to this dessert. Use Christmas-shaped cookie cutters to cut the cereal treats into individual servings. Spread the mixture onto a cookie sheet in a thin, even layer. Let it set up before cutting it with the cookie cutters. Spread a layer of frosting on top of each shape. Use additional frosting, sprinkles or Christmas candies to decorate the tops.

    • Ice cream is another favorite among kids. Vanilla ice cream works well to create ice cream snowmen. Each snowman is comprised of three ice cream scoops. Let them spread green frosting over the cones to make it look like a Christmas tree. Add sprinkles and candies on the outside of the tree to make the decorations. Cut a thin strip of fruit leather and wrap it around the tree as garland. Serve the trees with a scoop of ice cream for more flavor.

    • Cupcakes are child-friendly and easy to make. There are several simple Christmas decorating options for cupcakes. The round shape of the cupcake tops makes them ideal to turn into faces. Ice the cupcakes with brown frosting to create gingerbread men. Use frosting to pipe on a simple face including dots for eyes and the nose and a smile line. A snowman face is created with white icing as the base. Use black frosting for the eyes and mouth. Add a carrot nose with orange icing. The round shape also works well for creating cupcake ornaments. Ice the cupcakes in a base color for the ornament. Add designs in a contrasting color. Add a blob of icing in the middle of the cake to represent the ornament hanger.
