We"re Just Crabs in a Bucket...
We're all just crabs in a great big bucket bucket.
Recently I was watching a television programme about the illegal harvesting of shark fins to be used in shark fin soup. It, tastes like the bottom of a dumpster has no nutritional value and why people do this is beyond me, but during this television show I came upon a fantastic fact about Mother Nature that when you think about it applies to me and you.
I'm not talking about the polar ice caps, flight paths of bees or the ocean tides. I'm talking about the humble crab. Yes you read this correctly the humble crab.
Well here it is, if you put crabs into a bucket what do you think happens? Do they just sit there and take it knowing that sooner or later they will be on a plate in a restaurant owned by a Scottish guy with a bad ass attitude? No they keep on moving about (maybe a claw pops off or two), but if one of them tries to climb out the bucket the others will pull it back in. Interesting, rather than letting a fellow crab escape the others want to keep it in the bucket. Now it comes down to preservation of the species but take a minute to think a second, how many of us are like those little crabs in a bucket?
Settle in because while your here I'm going to dish out a quick science lesson. Did you know that on average the life span of a crab is no longer than 3 years? Also if a claw happens to be lobbed off in some kind of freak ocean accident then it will grow back? And the oddest one… crabs teeth are in its stomach? I didn't and those facts were pretty pointless in all honesty (the last one a little gross) so what's the interesting part?
My question to you…
Are there people in your life that are pulling you back in? Telling you not to try something different, putting limiting beliefs on you? Usually the people pulling you back are those closest to you, most of the time they don't even know they're doing it.
Now you know this fact it's hard not to see it going on around you in everyday life.
So why not throw caution to the wind, break out of the bucket and stop letting other people pull you back in.
