How to Put a Fish Hook on a Cap Brim
- 1). Hold the ball cap in one hand and the fish hook in your other hand. Insert the point of the hook into the material of the brim. Slide the hook into the material at an angle so that the material only is pierced by the hook point.
- 2). Push the point along under the material of the brim. Insert the hook point under the material half the length of the hook shank as a rule of thumb. Adjust the amount of material under which the hook point passes based on personal preference.
- 3). Push the hook point up and out of the material. Make sure you are happy with the position of the hook as it will not be possible to reposition the hook once the barb pierces through the material.
- 4). Arrange the hook in a position on the brim with which you are happy. File the hook point down with a metal file to reduce the danger of sticking a finger or hand with the hook while wearing the hat.
- 5). Rotate the hook up on the shank so the point is up off the brim. Apply a small drop or two of hot glue to the barb as this is the widest part of the hook. Rotate the hook back down and apply pressure to the point as the glue cools and the hook is held in place.
