What Is the Correct Way to Use a Source in an Article in APA?

18

    Author

    • Begin your citation with the name of the author of the work you're citing, beginning with the last name, followed by a comma and then a period at the end of the name. Use the ampersand in between authors to cite more than one. If the publication has more than three authors, list the first one followed by "et al."

    Title

    • List the title of article after the author. Only capitalize the first word and any proper names in the title. This does not apply to works in print. Follow the article title with the title of the journal that published it in italics. If using a printed reference, skip directly to the title without listing the chapter or a subheading.

    Publication

    • Include publication information about the works in your citation. You should list the year that a book was released and the edition, along with the place of publication for printed works and the date of the journal or newspaper article.

    Web Address

    • When using a website, provide a static link to the site and include the date you accessed the information since web content can change from one day to another.
