Sign & Symptoms of a Colon Mass
- A colon mass may be benign, which is called a polyp, or it can be cancerous. A cancer of the colon is made or irregular growths of cells in the large intestine.
- If untreated, colon cancer can spread to other organs and the prognosis if this occurs is not good--the condition could be incurable.
- There are several signs that one may have a colon cancer mass including lethargy, tiredness, shortness of breath, changes to elimination of solid wastes, blood in the stools, weight changes and abdominal pain.
- These symptoms may indicate other illnesses such as IBS, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease or other diseases of the bowels.
- The best method of prevention for colon cancer is early detection of any polyps displaying signs of cancerous cells so they can be removed.
