    Skilled Worker Class

    • A Mexican national can immigrate to Canada as a skilled worker. These are people who are chosen to immigrate to Canada based on their ability to become economically successful . Successful immigration under this category depends on education, work experience and knowledge of English or French. Acceptance is much easier if you have an offer of employment and have been living legally in Canada for at least a year as either an international student or temporary worker.

    Investor Class

    • Canada constantly seeks experienced business people who will promote the economy. You can immigrate to Canada under three categories in this class. You can enter as an entrepreneur, but must show business experience and a net worth of C$300,000 obtained legally. Under this category, you must want to own and actively manage a Canadian business too.

You can also enter as an investor, but must show a net worth of C$800,000 and make a Canadian investment of C$400,000, which is managed by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) and guaranteed by the Canadian provinces. At the end of a five-year period, CIC will return the C$400,000 to you without interest.

A Mexican can also enter under the self-employed person's category in this class. You will be required to have experience, which will contribute to Canada either culturally or athletically. If you have significant experience in farm management and want to purchase and manage a farm in Canada, then you can also enter under this category.

    Family Class

    • If a Mexican is already a permanent resident or Canadian citizen, then he can sponsor a spouse, common-law partner, dependent children, parent or grandparent to become a permanent resident. Residents who immigrate under this class must provide for their own needs and those of their family. As a sponsor, you become financially responsible for your relative and must make sure that your spouse or relative does not seek government financial assistance.

    Canadian Experience Class

    • If you have a temporary work visa or have a foreign student visa and have graduated from a Canadian university, you can apply for permanent residence. To immigrate under this category, you have to be familiar with Canadian society, speak English or French and contribute to the economy. As a temporary worker, you must have at least two years of work experience, and as a foreign student, you must have graduated from a Canadian post-secondary school and have one year of work experience.

    Refugee Class

    • According to Canadian law, any person can apply for citizenship if she has lived in Canada for three years and as long as she applies within a four-year period. However, because there has been such a large number of Mexicans requesting immigration under this class, Canada imposed a visa regulation in 2009. Under this regulation, any Mexican traveler wanting to visit Canada must apply for a visa prior to leaving Mexico, and to obtain this visa she must show proof of income and economic stability.
