Should You Allow Do Follow Comments?
A couple of weeks ago I decided to turn my blog into a do-follow blog to learn if it helped increase the amount of comments, posts, replies and most important the effect it had on my site ranking.
The honest observation is that I am not really sure the level of impact it has had at all.
I have gotten some spam comments but I always delete them.
Just because it is a do follow blog does not mean I have to approve every comment or even allow any link at all.
That is also a double edged sword.
I also go through the same process of trying to get links back to my own site and so blog comment play a large role in this effort.
I have a question for all the bloggers in the house.
Would you allow ANY comment with a link you felt is wrong? Let me explain.
Last week I was going through comments that needed to be moderated on my world famous blog.
He.
He.
That's an evil sort of laugh.
It's weird how emotion is hard to get across and sarcasm is the hardest.
Anyway last week I got an awesome comment but with a link that was so vile.
I almost deleted it.
At first I changed the link in the comments section but then I decided that I couldn't in good conscious promote that individual.
I have since thought about it and realized that the comment is far more useful to someone else.
Moral turpitude should play some role but not at the expense of your web site rankings.
No matter if your site allows links to be followed or not it comes down to personal choice.
Would you allow a link from an individual or company that was in your judgment immoral?
