How to Know if GPU Is Compatible

DirectX Diagnostics

1). Open Run by holding the “Win” and “R” keys simultaneously.
2). Enter “Dxdiag” in Run then click “OK.”
3). Select the “Display” tab, and look at the name provided Device section. This is the full model name of your GPU.
4). Look at DDI Version in the Drivers section. This provides you with the DirectX version your card supports.
5). Click “Exit” to close.

2). Enter “MSinfo32.exe” in Run, and then click the “OK” button.
3). Expand “Components” on the left pane, and then click to highlight “Display.” This populates the right pane with properties relevant to your graphics adapter.
4). Look at Adapter RAM. This is the total amount of RAM installed on your adapter. The amount of video memory you have is usually important when considering if your adapter is compatible with a software program.

1). Click “Start.” Type “Nvidia Control” in the Search field and press “Enter.”
2). Click “Help,” and then click “System Information.”
3). Look at the “DirectX Runtime Version.” This is the version of DirectX you currently have installed.
4). Click to highlight your Nvidia adapter on the Items pane. This action expands its information in the Details pane.
5). Look at the provided information in the Details pane. In addition to the information you have already obtained through the DirectX and System Information utilities, this shows your driver version, clock speeds and bus type.

1). Right-click the Windows desktop and click “AMD or ATI Control Center.”
2). Click the “Information” section, and then click “Hardware.” This displays adapter-related data at the center of the window.
3). Look at the provided information in the Graphics Hardware table. In addition to the information you obtained in the DirectX and System Information utilities, this shows your memory type and clock speeds.
