"The King"s Speech" and "The Fighter" Top the 2011 Screen Actors Guild Awards

16

The Screen Actors Guild Awards are, as the group likes to point out, the only awards selected "solely by actors' peers." They're also typically one of the more sedate shows of the awards season, and the 2011 SAG Awards ceremony proved no exception. The no-host format and an extremely long tribute segment to Ernest Borgnine (who absolutely deserved to be honored, but didn't need to have every film of his lengthy career showcased) made waiting for the film categories of the awards show an almost painful experience.

When the show finally wrapped up, it was with The King's Speech taking home the SAG Award equivalent of Oscar's Best Picture and The Fighter fighting its way to two acting awards for first-time SAG Award winners.
