How to Connect to the Internet Using WiFi
- 1). Turn on your computer's WiFi radio. If you are using a laptop, the switch will be on the body of your laptop along the side or with the rest of the convenience keys. If you are using a desktop with a USB network adapter, it should be enabled automatically. If it is not, you can turn it on by using the USB adapter's icon in the system tray of your computer.
- 2). Click the "Start" button and click "Connect To," then choose the wireless network you wish to connect to. Alternately, you can click the WiFi icon located in your computer's system tray to get a list of available networks.
- 3). Choose the network and click the "Connect" button. If the network is protected by a password, you will be asked to enter it at this time. If you do not have a password, you must contact the network's administrator. If you are connecting to a wireless network at a location that offers free WiFi, your computer may warn you about connecting to the wireless network. Click "Connect Anyway" to continue the connection process.
- 4). Open a web browser window and navigate to a web page to test your Internet connection.
