The Buzz Surrounding The Secret State

24
In the music industry, buzz can be everything. Fortunately for The Secret State, there's plenty of buzz around this up and coming band already - without even dropping an album yet.

The Secret State, a band that cleverly mixes new rock music with electronica vibes, have only released a couple of teasers off their upcoming album online last summer - yet these videos already made an incredible impression. Their first single, "The Biggest Mistake" boasts more than 66 million views on YouTube, an impressive figure that is only expected to grow with the band's upcoming exposure as they promote their first full length album.

The band consists of singer Daniel Martiniano, guitarist Joshua Jones, bassist Hunter Schafer, drummer Michael Marx-Gibbons, and digital performer Daniel Espinosa -whose "beeps and boops" as the band like to call them - are largely responsible for the electronica touches amidst the hard rock base that make up the band's signature sound.

The members of The Secret State are tight knit due to common factors: their Baltimore heritage, a shared passion for music, and serving in the U.S. military. The band members' military experiences have directly influenced their music, which features lyrics dealing with issues such as long distance relationships, foreign deployment, and dealing with war.

The Secret State's newest single "Fight or Flight" is a soaring tribute to those who have served their country overseas. The song, about a military patrol on deployment in Afghanistan and their homecoming, is very personal to the band - three of the five band members have served campaigns in Iraq and Afghanistan. It is with these experiences in mind that the band wrote "Fight or Flight".

The official music video for "Fight or Flight" was shot at Fort Irwin in California at the U.S. Army's National Training Center. The project has been fully supported by the military and even stars active duty soldiers. "These are real soldiers operating as if they were being ambushed," says Espinosa of the video, which features highly realistic combat scenes to give viewers a true sense of what American soldiers go through in deployment.

With the upcoming release of "Fight or Flight" as well as their first album, The Secret State's momentum is only expected to rise. Keep an eye out for The Secret State's unique blend of new rock music and electronica as the buzz continues to gather around this awesome new band.
