Is Garlic Good For Dogs?

6
Let me start off by saying, please, please consult with your vet before regularly feeding garlic to your dog! You may have heard that large amounts of onions are bad for dogs as they can develop hemolytic anemia (premature obliteration of red blood cells inside or outside of blood vessels causing abnormally sluggish behavior).
Being that garlic is in the onion family, one would have to monitor the quantity being fed to Rover.
But, raw (uncooked and undried) garlic has also been known to improve immunity to aid against cancer, and lower cholesterol and blood sugar levels.
It also gets rid of worms, and prevents fleas and ticks as those creatures can't stand the smell of garlic.
It can help heal skin boils by applying it directly on the wound for 5 to 7 days.
Raw garlic is so great because it is anti-fungal and antibacterial.
You can easily blend garlic by either spraying or pouring it on dog food.
Or, you can mash raw organic garlic and add it to your doggie's meal; in general, about half clove for large dogs and quarter of clove for small dogs.
Please check with your vet before supplementing their daily meal with garlic and diligently observe the daily amount of garlic given.
Feeding two large cloves daily, over an extended time, may result in hurting your pet.
So, be careful on the daily quantity administered.
By the way, humans will not be able to detect any garlic odor.
For medicinal purposes, you can mix raw and unrefined garlic with dry ginger and use in place of ibuprofen, aspirin or other anti-inflammatory drugs.
Garlic is a very inexpensive and healthy dog food additive when administered properly.
And, again, I say please check with your vet because you want your beloved pet to be as healthy as possible using the safest methods possible.
Love Your Dog!
