Your little girl is about to celebrate a very special occasion! Her Holy First Communion. There is so much to think about and prepare for during this special time. I am sure your little angel is looking forward to wearing a beautiful dress. Here are some tips to help you know what to look for in a First Communion dress. These tips are general and not church specific. Be sure to check any guidelines provided by your church or your child's CCD instructor for exact expectations.

First Communion dresses are just about always white.  In fact, anything outside of white will stand out and probably be embarrassing for your child.  It is the safest, bet best to stick with the white dresses when shopping. This works out great as you will find a large selection of white first communion dresses to choose from.

This is a religious occasion, be sure the dress is conservative. Most churches will require sleeves on the dress. And, although some may allow a more modern look, it is best to avoid sleeveless dresses unless you purchase a bolero jacket or shawl to cover the arms during the ceremony. You want send a message to your daughter that she needs to enter the church with respect and dress modestly. This is not a cause for distress as there are plenty of pretty cover ups and a lot of gorgeous dresses with sleeves that will make her feel like a pretty princess.

The dresses are usually tea length. Avoid dresses that fall above the knee. You are looking for something longer for her special day.
