How to Link to .SWF Files in Flash
- 1). Open a file transfer protocol (FTP) program. Log-in to your website's FTP account. If you don't have this information, ask your website host for it.
- 2). Upload the SWF file in which you plan on linking your Flash file. Drag the file from its current location into the FTP program. Write down the URL of the SWF file.
- 3). Open the Adobe Flash file in which you wish to create a link. Do this by launching Flash and selecting "File", then "Open", and double-clicking on the file you want.
- 4). Create an image you'd like to use as a button. Select the button, then click "Insert" and "Convert To Symbol". Choose "Button" from the pop-up window, name the button and press "OK".
- 5). Right-click on the button and select "Actions". Select "Basic Actions" from the list and then click "Get URL". Enter the URL of the SWF file you uploaded into the text box. Close the actions box and save the Flash file.
- 6). Click "Control" and choose "Test Movie". When the file opens, click the button and make sure the link to the SWF file works.
