Things to Do When You're in Love
- Express your love to your significant other so she understands your feelings. An original love poem in a card is one method, or you can use a poem from William Shakespeare or contemporary poet Pablo Neruda (see Resources). Set a romantic dinner or excursion to read your poem aloud. Another way to communicate your love is to plan her favorite activity and announce to her directly that she is the one you love.
- Once you and your partner have decided that you are both in love, you should promise to be exclusive. Setting a monogamous relationship with the one you love means that you are serious about your love. It reflects both your feelings and it nourishes the love you have for each other. If you were seeing other people, you would not have the same strong bond as a monogamous relationship. Your emotions would be split among different people. An exclusive relationship means you have eyes and a heart for only special person.
- Living together is the another thing to do when you're in love. When you open up your home to your beloved, you are sharing your heart and your living space. You must love everything about this other person if you live together. You are in love, and you won't mind dirty socks and messy bathrooms. You get to see all the sides of your beloved, and your relationship will build and grow stronger.
- The ultimate commitment to your beloved is marriage. It is not something to take lightly, but if you are truly in love, you can marry him. You want an intimate relationship, and some believe the only way to truly be intimate is through marriage. Going through the ceremony and filing the paperwork is a real commitment, much more than just cohabitation. Once you are in love and you understand it is the real deal, marriage is the next thing to do.
