How to Burn Tapes to a CD
- 1). Plug one end of an RCA cable into the output jacks on the back of the cassette deck. Plug the other end into the Tape input -- or Aux input if there is no Tape input -- on the back of your A/V receiver.
- 2). Plug a second RCA cable into the CD output on the back of your A/V receiver. Plug the other end of that cable into the record input on your CD recorder. Turn on all three devices.
- 3). Eject the CD tray on your CD recorder. Set a blank CD-R or CD-RW into the tray and close it.
- 4). Tune the A/V receiver to the Tape or Aux setting, depending on where you plugged in the cassette deck. Push "Record" and "Pause" on the CD recorder.
- 5). Eject the cassette compartment on the cassette deck. Insert the cassette you wish to record onto CD. Close the cassette compartment.
- 6). Play the cassette until it's at the point where you wish to record. Most cassette tapes have a four- to six-second leader tape, so if you want to minimize silence at the beginning of your CD, play the tape until the audio begins and count the time from the beginning until it starts playing sound. Back the cassette up and play it again, stopping it one second prior to the time you counted.
- 7). Push "Play" on the cassette deck and unpause the CD recorder in quick succession to begin burning the cassette to the CD. Stop the CD when the cassette is done. If you wish to record both sides of the cassette onto the CD, pause the CD at the end of the first side of the cassette, flip the cassette over and unpause the CD after the same leader tape time interval you determined in the previous step.
- 8). Follow your CD player's specific owner's manual to finalize the disc when the recording is complete to allow CD playback in other CD players or your computer's CD drive.
