How to Remove Truck Canopy From Truck
- 1). Place four bricks at evenly spaced intervals on a flat surface. This will be used to place the canopy on when it's removed unless it will be propped up against a wall or placed in a garage or carport.
- 2). Crawl inside the bed of the truck under the canopy and loosen any bolts that hold the canopy to the truck with the ratchet set or adjustable wrench. These either will be bolts that go all the way through the canopy and the railing of the bed of the truck or will be "C" clamps that will need to be loosened. Place the fasteners outside of the truck bed so they will not get lost.
- 3). Unplug any wiring to any optional third brake light if one exists.
- 4). Crawl back inside the truck bed and turn around so you face the opening of the truck bed. Tell your helper to stand on one side of the truck canopy. If you have more than one person, have each one stand on both sides of the canopy.
- 5). Lift up the canopy slightly and begin moving it back off the truck, keeping it straight. Have your helper guide it to keep it straight. Stop moving it when it is almost halfway off the back end of the truck.
- 6). Come out of the back of the truck and go to the opposite side your helper is on. If you have more than one, pick a side and then continue to guide the canopy of the truck. You may need to gently lean the canopy on the back end of the truck as you and your helper(s) properly position yourself to redistribute the weight.
- 1). Unsnap the sides of the canopy and roll up the sides to the top of the canopy. Secure the sides with the straps it came with.
- 2). Push back on the top edge of the aluminum pole, starting at the tailgate of the truck, and keep pushing back until the frame folds up accordion-style back into the back of the bed of the truck.
- 3). Tie the soft canopy down by lashing it with the straps located at the base of the bed of the truck.
