Most of us know that we need to exercise in order to lose weight.
Just cutting back on food and drink doesn't work unless perhaps you have an amazing metabolism and I don't, or perhaps when you are young and weight is less likely a problem then.
You don't an amazing metabolism or you wouldn't be reading this, would you? But with exercise just doing some or even a lot is often not sufficient.
Although more exercise is better than less, assuming you have the time, effective exercise is much more important! What works best, as well as fastest, is a combination of aerobic exercise and resistance exercise.
The combination works much better than any one separately.
Aerobic exercise burns immediate calories which leads to weight loss.
Resistance exercise builds muscle, and muscle burns calories continuously, even when sitting at a desk or sleeping.
The combination is great for burning fat and increasing your health in general as well.
Moderate aerobic exercise is best, you don't need to train for a marathon, but any aerobic exercise is good.
Even gentle walks are great.
You can try walking after dinner or perhaps during lunch at work.
If the weather is bad you can use a treadmill or even walk at a mall.
If you want to do something more strenuous like run or bike that is even better.
It's not necessary to be technical and use a heart rate monitor, exercise log, or anything else.
Just do something! The best, meaning most effective and most efficient, resistance exercise is lifting free weights.
Start slowly if this is new to you and have a trainer take you through the paces.
Many gyms and health clubs will show you the basics for free.
And don't be silly and worry about growing too many muscles.
Do you worry about studying turning you into Einstein? Two or three short sessions of weight lifting a week are plenty! Just keep at it steadily and you'll probably find that you grow to actually enjoy it; most people do.
It will also make your body and mind feel good in the long run too.
To lose weight, especially fat, and keep it off, exercise is necessary.
The best way to do this is a combo of aerobic exercise and resistance exercise.
It works; try it, especially if like most people you have been having weight and fat control issues!
