Photo Editor
Definition:
There are two primary types of graphics software and one of those is a photo editor. A photo editor deals primarily with bitmap images such as photos and other bitmap images including GIF, PNG, and TIFF formats. Although they are called photo editors, the software can be used for creating and editing any type of bitmap image, not just photographs.
The main players for professional photo editing are:
- Adobe Photoshop
- Corel Photo-Paint (part of the CorelDRAW Graphics Suite)
- The GIMP (free software)
These are not the only photo editors available. Also see these photo editors for Mac and Windows.
