How to Clean a Ruger 10/22 Clip
- 1). Insert the hex wrench into the hexagonal screwhead on one side of the clip, then turn counter-clockwise to loosen the screw.
- 2). Remove the screw and the hex nut--located on the opposite side of the clip--once the screw has been loosened sufficiently.
- 3). Remove the clip cover, the silver metal piece at the top of the clip, and the plastic rotor piece from inside the clip.
- 4). Apply a small amount of gun oil onto a cotton swab, then use the now-moist swab to clean the dirt and grime from all visible areas of the plastic. You will likely need to use several swabs, depending on how long it has been since you've cleaned your clip.
- 5). Wait for the rotor to dry completely, then start re-assembling the clip. Insert the screw first, then the silver metal piece. There will be two pegs on the metal piece, one large, one small. Insert the large peg into the appropriately-sized hole in the magazine.
- 6). Insert the rotor over the screw in the magazine. Make sure that the largest separator--the bits of plastic that hold the individual shells--is against the right side of the metal piece. Once the rotor is in, rotate it clockwise until the large plastic separator is inside the metal piece.
- 7). Replace the magazine cap and screw the hex nut onto the screw. Tighten it down snugly.
