Air Soft Issues
- Airsoft guns are toys designed to simulate real weapons in a safe way by firing small, plastic BB pellets rather than live ammunition. These toys are used for tactical simulation, but also for playing war games similar to paint ball. However, issues with airsoft guns exist, and players should be aware of them before the games start.
- One of the biggest issues with airsoft guns are that many are made to be as realistic in appearance as possible. This can lead to problems in carrying and transporting airsoft guns, especially if you get pulled over by a police officer or if someone reports people in camouflage running around in the woods with guns. Many airsoft guns aren't realistic in appearance, made with clear or white plastic, and this can be a hard thing to explain to people who are unfamiliar with the sport of airsoft.
- Some states in America don't allow the import of airsoft guns. Many of these guns come from Asian countries, and the importing of realistic looking toy firearms can be a difficult thing to explain to authorities. Additionally, difficulties exist in transporting airsoft guns across state lines and shipping airsoft guns in the regular post. This is especially important if the airsoft guns are powered by CO2 or compressed air, because those containers should be specially prepared.
- It's a law in America that all airsoft guns have to have an orange tip attached to them. These orange tips are meant to identify airsoft guns as toys. Problems may arise when airsoft gun owners either remove the orange tips from their guns or they spray paint the tip black. Many states have laws that, if this tip is altered or removed, the owner may be charged with a crime for creating a firearm replica.
