11
In this day and age there are a very large percentage of people choosing to book their holidays online but how can you be sure you are booking on a legitimate website? The internet is growing insanely fast and there is unfortunately a growing number of fake scam websites out there that will take your money and run.
For the less familiar internet user spotting the fake sites from the legitimate sites is almost impossible.
In this article I want to share with you some tips for booking your holiday online.
Why book online? You will be hard pushed to find something you can't do online these days, using the internet is fast, convenient and in most cases safe.
Look at grocery shopping online for example; a few years ago it would take me half the day to go do my grocery shopping in the supermarket.
Now, with a few clicks of my mouse and a credit card I can do all my shopping for the convenience of my own home! The other great thing about booking a holiday online is the ability to compare prices with thousands of other companies.
You can find the best deals in a matter of minutes but using one of the many comparison websites available.
What does a good booking site offer? You should consider the following things when looking for a good website to book your holiday on.
· They should clearly indicate what is included in the price, and that there will be no unexpected charges when you finally get around to entering your card details.
There is nothing worse than spending several hours comparing and considering a holiday package only to find extra charges on your bill when you come to putting your hand in your pocket.
· One of the most important things to check when booking online is that the website you are using is secure.
You can normally see this by clicking on a booking button and looking in the address bar.
If you see https then that indicates you are on a secure page and there is no way any of your information will be leaked from the website.
· The website should clearly indicate any extra fees that will be charged when you come to book your holiday, almost all hotels and airlines charge you a fee for using a credit card.
Normally the fee for using a credit card would be very small but some companies choose to charge a percentage of the totally cost.
As you can imagine this can be quite a considerable fee if you are booking a luxury cruise around the world.
· They should clearly display their terms and conditions before sending you to the payment processing page, any company that tries to avoid showing you their terms and conditions normally has something to hide.
· Any good company that is trying to promote booking online should be constantly changing their rates to make sure they are always cheaper than booking in the online world.
