How to Make a Rabbit Trap in the Wild
- 1). Cut a limb from a tree. Use a knife to cut the limb to trim it to 1 foot in length.
- 2). Cut a branch from the limb. Leave 2 inches of the branch extending from the limb. Turn the limb so the branch points down. Sharpen the lower end of the branch to a point with the knife.
- 3). Form a 4-inch loop in the end of the snare wire. Wrap the free end of the wire around the main wire to form a small loop that will allow the large loop to slide down around a rabbit's neck.
- 4). Position the limb within 6 inches of the trail rabbits use. Drive the pointed end of the limb into the ground with a rock.
- 5). Bend the wire 6 inches from the loop. Hook the bend in the wire under the branch of the limb. Adjust the wire loop so it is held in place 4 inches above the trail.
- 6). Secure the free end of the wire around the top of the stake or a nearby sapling to secure the snare loop and hold a trapped rabbit in place.
