Who Lives In Your Temple?

11
Corinthians 3-16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? I am sure you have heard this phrase before "your body is your temple".
These words could not be any truer.
Our body really is our temple.
It is the only place we really live.
Day in, day out, we sleep and wake up in this body.
We put our bodies through all kinds of stress, some good, some bad.
Some of us cherish our bodies and some of us abuse our bodies.
Some of us push our bodies to the limit and some of us limit our bodies to the push.
Now what I want to talk about is the importance of maintaining and enhancing our bodies through physical activity.
Think of your body as an automobile.
What happens when you let an automobile sit for prolong periods of time without starting or driving it? If you know anything about cars, then you know that the batteries will probably die, the tires will go flat, the alternator and starter will most likely seize and this is just a tip of the iceberg.
What do you think happens to your body when you do not exercise to keep up your muscle, joints, organs etc.
Yep, just like a car they all become weak and don't function like they were meant to.
You get aches where you should not, pain in weird places, you get easily winded, and the list goes on and on...
On the contrary when you exercise and push yourself out of your comfort zone ever so slightly; something amazing starts to happen.
Your body responds in a most marvelous way.
It starts functioning like it was designed to, like a well oiled machine, a tuned up sports car.
You start firing on all cylinders, so to speak.
Not only that but you actually start looking and feeling better about yourself.
Why wouldn't you want this? Like I mentioned earlier your body really is a temple.
You would not dare bring trash or garbage into a temple or church to dump, right? Another automobile scenario; if you have ever owned a car, then you know that you can not put water in the gas tank, you can not put sand where the oil goes; you can not put a rock in place of the batteries.
What would happen if you attempted to do this? You would no doubt be towing that car to the junk yard.
So why would you do that to your body? Why would you fill your temple/body with junk food or harmful drugs? When you do this bad things start to happen.
Bulges start appearing where they do not belong, muscles and joints start getting weakened and begin to lose their function-ability.
You start losing your mental focus and acuteness and so on and so on.
The body is an amazing specimen with its own built-in warning systems.
When you overload it with stuff that (ie junk food/drugs) do not belong, warning systems are triggered.
These signs are usually in the form of cardiovascular diseases, short windiness, high blood pressure, diabetes and the list goes on.
These are all cues for you to take notice and do something.
Far too often these cues are ignored.
Sometimes to the point where they become fatal.
Once you realize the harm and destruction that you are doing to your body; it is at that precise moment that you can begin to make changes.
This will only happen when you decide for yourself that you are ready.
Unlike the automobile, the body is an amazing thing in the sense that when you stop the bad habits, it will start to repair it self and get right.
Is that not amazing? God has blessed you with a beautiful temple, treat it as such and it will reward you back.
Not to mention the aesthetic benefits like being completely comfortable with your body.
We as humans are not perfect, myself included.
We have all "sinned and come short of the grace of God".
It's never too late while you can still breathe.
Do not disrespect God by thrashing the temple he has chosen for you.
Love yourself no matter what, because you are beautiful.
"For you are made in his image" start today if you have fallen behind and always remember; "your body is your temple, God's temple.
Learn to love and appreciate your temple and you will reap its glorious fruits.
Please share this if you know someone who is abusing their body in some shape or form.
They need to know that their body is a Devine temple.
Don't forget to leave a comment to share your thoughts.
God Bless Ebenezer Grant
