It Can Happen Here
There is an important lesson to be learned from the rebellion in Iran.
Americans must accept their civic responsibility and actively participate in politics, regardless of party affiliation, to prevent what is happening in Iran.
The mullahs in Iran, in their effort to prove to the world that their theocracy had the support of the majority of its citizens, manipulated the results of the rigged election.
The Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was the catalyst for the rioting because he announced that Ahmadinejad was the winner before the votes were counted and exaggerated the winning percentage.
The suffering Iranians, bridling under the despotic regime that enslaves women and oppresses men, rallied in the streets to express their displeasure about the stolen election.
Currently, the young people of Iran are being beaten, jailed, and slaughtered because, for 30 years, their parents' generation apathetically abdicated their democracy to their theocracy.
Too many Americans busily engaged in work and raising their families, neglect their civic duties and pay no attention to politics and the workings of government.
The general attitude is that they can cope with any new laws and regulations.
It is easy to accept the largesse of the Federal Government even though there are attendant prerequisites.
The problem is that the Federal programs gradually reduce the freedoms and the incentives of individuals.
Retirees accepted these restrictions that have slowly increased throughout their lifetimes.
Their response is to complain and wish for the good old days.
One day, under these continued circumstances, our apathetic citizens could find themselves under the complete control of an oppressive government.
The pattern of government controls, without any meaningful opposition of the public, is exactly what led to Nazi Germany, Communist Russia, and currently theocratic Iran.
We must avoid meekly accepting the continuous eroding of our rights as the cost of governmental entitlement programs.
There ain't no Santa Claus; you can't trust or rely on the Federal Government.
Therefore, get involved, the future of coming generations are at stake.
