How To Get The Best DJ For Your Wedding

17
A DJ can make or break your wedding.
If you and all your friends want to boogie down to the top 40 and your DJ is playing the oldies, you're going to have a problem.
Here are a few ways to ensure that doesn't happen: 1.
Know Your Taste It's important to know what kind of vibe you're going for when it comes to your big day.
Have an idea of what kind of music you want for the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing portions of the night.
Try to narrow down ahead of time whether you will be doing any of the traditional activities including father/daughter dance, tossing the bouquet, garter removal, and what kind of songs you want for each.
2.
Call Around & Ask Questions Conduct basic phone interviews with DJ's.
Ask the basics including their fee, what their normal procedure is on a wedding day, what they wear and what their back up plan is in case they lose power.
Ask how many years they've been in the business, and ask for list of references.
Put them to the test by letting them know your taste in music and ask what suggestions they have to kick the party off.
This will give you an idea as to how well your DJ knows your taste in music.
3.
Call Their References Don't be afraid to reach out to the people on the list of references and ask about the DJ.
Ask the level of professionalism, what time they arrived/departed, how the night went, and their overall satisfaction.
You should also do an internet search on your DJ for online reviews.
These are generally anonymous, and will help to give you an overall idea of how well the DJ is received.
4.
Meet the DJ Narrow your list of DJ's down to just a few, then schedule a time to meet.
Some may bring a DVD of their work.
Take note on what time they arrive and how informative they are.
They should be able to answer any additional questions you have for them.
This meeting should help you to narrow your choice down to one.
