1994 2 Door Honda Accord 5 Speed Specifications

39

    Configuration

    • The Honda Accord was a vehicle sold on the brand's reputation for affordability and reliability and did not deviate far from the norms of its class. Honda built the Accord on a front-engined, front-wheel-drive architecture and left the all-wheel-drive segment to competitors like Subaru and the rear-wheel-drive offerings laid squarely in the hands of the German and American models.

    DX and LX Engine

    • The base DX and mid-grade LX trim levels were powered by a naturally aspirated 2.2-liter in-line four-cylinder engine with a 16-valve double-overhead-camshaft design, a 3.39-inch bore, 3.72-inch stroke and a compression ratio of 9.6-to-1. Output for this engine was rated at 130 horsepower at 5,200 rpm and 144 foot-pounds of torque at 4,000 rpm.

    EX Engine

    • The VTEC 2.2-liter in-line four-cylinder engine employed variable valve timing and was only equipped in the top-of-the-line Accord EX. This powerplant had a 16-valve dual overhead camshaft design, 3.39-inch bore, 3.70-inch stroke and a compression ratio of 7.8-to-1. Output for the EX's VTEC engine was rated at 145 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 190 foot-pounds of torque at 4,500 rpm.

    Dimensions

    • The Accord grew in width as it transitioned into its fifth generation, placing it on the large end of the mid-size spectrum for the 1994 model year. Despite growing to 70.1 inches wide, the car shrank to 184 inches in overall length and sat on a 106.9-inch wheelbase.

    Safety

    • The Honda Accord was equipped with standard driver and passenger airbags, as well as side impact door beams -- ahead of federal requirements for both safety items. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's frontal impact crash test resulted in a four-star rating for driver protection and a three-star rating for passenger protection.

    Fuel Economy

    • The two-door Accord Coupe achieved fuel ratings of 25 mpg city and 31 mpg highway when equipped with either engine and the five-speed manual transmission. The Accord drew its fuel from a 17-gallon tank.
