Poll Results - Top Five Excuses For Not Getting Travel Health Insurance
I decided to take a poll of uninsured travelers and find out what their top five reasons were for not getting travel insurance.
There were many different answers and the top five below are not the actual quotes, but titles that fit certain answers generally.
Do you see yourself in one of these excuses? 1.
I haven't been sick in years and feel great.
2.
I'm already covered.
3.
It's too expensive.
4.
I don't have time.
5.
I just never thought about it or wasn't aware there even is travel insurance.
The number one answer is to me makes the least sense.
Sure, you may be in great shape and have not been sick in months or even years but to think that means you can take a chance and won't get sick while traveling is not right.
In fact, traveling to places you are unfamiliar with with can increase your chances of getting sick.
Plus, compare it to the earthquakes that happen in California and other parts of the world.
Here in California we know that a very large earthquake is due at some point.
the more years that go by without a large earthquake only increases the likely hood of it happening soon.
So, we are preparing for the earthquake now.
It's the same with people not being sick or getting injured.
You still need to prepare.
Now, as far as number two goes, you may be covered with your existing coverage but you should make sure.
Many insurance plans do not cover you if you go travel international.
Check you plan closely.
If you spend some time investigating you find that there are insurance plans that will cover you that are not that expensive.
Plus, it's more expensive to get sick or injured and not be covered.
You just need to plan ahead and compare travel insurance plans.
Well, if you have a last minute trip then the forth excuse may be reasonable.
However, you should find time before you ever even think about traveling.
This should be something you are prepared for.
The fifth excuse is actually a good one but if you are reading this article I don't think it is valid anymore.
Travel health insurance is completely necessary if you are traveling.
Plus, it is affordable.
Your current coverage may cover you but make sure.
Take the time and investigate what your options are.
