How to Make a Mini Arrow

    • 1). Trim one of the pointed ends off the toothpick using the wire snips. Cut the pick down to a length of two and a half inches total, from blunt end to the tip of the remaining point.

    • 2). Soak the trimmed toothpick in dark tea or coffee for 20 minutes. Remove and pat dry with a towel; this will give the pick the aged effect of real wood and protect it from scorching when you later bake it.

    • 3). Soften one-eighth teaspoon of gray polymer clay. Divide this into quarters. Pinch one of the quarters into a cone shape with your fingertips.

    • 4). Insert the pointed end of the toothpick into the base of the clay cone. Pinch the clay between your thumb and forefinger to flatten it into an arrowhead. Use the pin to shape and trim away the clay at the base of the cone to give the arrowhead a flat bottom.

    • 5). Roll the sheet of aluminum foil into a ball. Press it firmly against the counter to flatten its bottom.

    • 6). Place the aluminum foil ball on a cookie sheet. Insert the toothpick into the foil, arrowhead up. Bake according to the polymer clay manufacturer's instructions.

    • 7). Cut a quarter-inch square piece of white paper. Divide this into two equal pieces.

    • 8). Coat the base end of the toothpick arrow with tacky craft glue.

    • 9). Glue the paper pieces to either side of the base of the arrow using tweezers to make feather tips. Let dry. Shape the feathers using the very tip of a pair of scissors; trim the inside corners on the end at an angle to resemble the shapes of feathers.
