Five Advertising Mediums and How They Can Help You
In today's society, there are so many ways to spread the word about an event or place, whether it is over several forms of social media, texting, radio, or TV and the list goes on but people often do not realize what this message is that they are spreading. It's advertising. Whether you mean to or not, when you retweet a tweet about a store or a restaurant, you are advertising for that company. As mentioned before, there are many ways to advertise your company and this article will give you examples of just five of the ways to advertise.
TV Media
This form of advertising provides a channel for your message to reach the masses constantly but because of this, it is often dominated by big brands who can afford to have their ads placed over several different channels. For the up and coming small business, this may not be the best way to begin your advertising campaign because of it's high cost but if you can do it, go for it!
Print Media
Print media is often the most popular form of advertisement for restaurants because it can easily be done but it is often not the most successful because it cannot be tracked and many ads prove in effective. Though it may be cheap and easy to buy a small ad in a newspaper and put your company's name there, few people actually stop and read over every ad thus making this form of advertising ineffective and a waste of your precious dollars.
Billboards
This form of advertising can prove to be very effective when done correctly. You must place your billboard in a area of high traffic so it is seen by the most amount of people and your message should be clear and concise; after all, drivers do not have time to read a paragraph about your company. Including easy directions to your place of business is a great way to advertise on your billboard as well.
Flyers
Yes this advertising technique may seem basic and outdated but it's effectiveness can still match other advertising techniques. Create a flyer that is eye catching, concise, and maybe include an a special offer on it to bring in new clients. Remember to put the location of your business and hours on the flyer as well. Then distribute your flyers in areas where people are most likely to be interested in your company. Flyers can be very effective on college campuses too where people walk around and will often see it posted somewhere and respond.
In-store
This branch of advertisement is often forgotten about because so many business owners focus on bringing customers into their business and forget that they can continue to advertise once customers are there. Post flyers on the walls or counter tops to update customers on menu changes, new items in store, or special events or sales coming up that they should attend. Also encourage customers to spread the word about your business online though social media.
