How to Blow a Mallard Duck Call
- 1). Place your lips against the mouthpiece of the call, making sure your lips are sealed around it. Hold the call with your trigger hand.
- 2). Blow steadily into the call. The force with which you blow changes the pitch of the sound, but a steady breath is the basis for most calls.
- 3). Create the quack sound. Say "quack, quack, quack" as you blow into the call, emphasizing the last two letters. Adjust the force with which you blow to make it sound like more than one duck.
- 4). Make a greeting call. Blow into the call and say "quack" five times. The first quack should be high-pitched. The final quack should be soft and lower-pitched.
- 5). Blow a hail call. Blow hard into the call and say "aaaaaink." Blow the hail call eight to 10 times. By the final call, the pitch and volume of the call should be lower than the first hail call.
- 6). Blow a comeback call. Blow into the call, saying the word "kanc" between five and seven times.
