Cardboard Box Imagination Station with Caine"s Arcade

19

By now you've probably heard about the amazingly creative boy, Caine, of Caine's Arcade! If you haven't seen the video about his story, you're in for a treat. Check out the video here! His imagination and creativity are so inspiring to kids and adults alike!

Two years after Caine's video was created, he's now inspiring more and more people around the world to create their own cardboard creations.

9-year-old Caine Monroy spent his summer vacation building an elaborate cardboard arcade inside his dad’s used auto parts store. The entire summer went by, and Caine had yet to have a single customer. Then, on the last day of summer, a filmmaker named Nirvan stopped to buy a door handle for his car. Caine asked Nirvan to play, and Nirvan bought a $2 FunPass, becoming Caine’s first customer. Inspired by Caine’s creativity, Nirvan came back to make a short film about Caine’s Arcade and organized a flashmob to surprise Caine with lots of customers. If you like this story, please share it with friends!

There's now a company surrounding Caine's Arcade called the Imagination Foundation. I've shared some of what I've done to support this foundation over on my blog, Make and Takes. I even hosted my own Cardboard Challenge, which you can host in your community! All the kids in the neighborhood had a blast crafting up all sorts of fun cardboard creations.

The Imagination Foundation non-profit helps foster creativity and entrepreneurship in kids like Caine everywhere. Over 100,000 kids in 50 countries now participate in our annual Global Cardboard Challenge, and we are launching local Imagination Chapters in fall of 2014. Help us bring this movement to kids in your community!

Head over to Caine's Arcade to learn more about how you and your child can create your own imagination with a simple cardboard box!
