Anxiety Disorder - Anxiety May Cause Insomnia

7
Being able to fall asleep, and sleep well through the night is a gift.
Many do not have this gift, creating a very difficult lifestyle.
There could be many reasons for not sleeping well, and anxiety is high up on the list.
It is no longer a secret that the body and mind work together in creating a balance in mental and physical health.
When there is an imbalance in the physical body, such as the inability to sleep at night, or at all, the underlying reason could very well be in the mind.
The mind is basically divided into two parts.
One is the conscious and the other is the subconscious.
Both parts play a role in sleeplessness, known as insomnia.
It would be very easy to take prescription drugs in order to sleep well, or a drink a nice spiked hot toddy before bed, and clearly many people have to do so in order to get some rest at night.
The drugs or alcohol may work very well, but it is like putting a small band aid on a deep infection.
It just covers up the problem instead of fixing it.
Getting back to the mind and its parts, they work together in some ways, but separately in other ways.
In order to cure insomnia instead of just using the band aid approach, both the conscious and the subconscious have to be treated.
The subconscious mind holds everything that you have ever heard, seen, experienced, felt or have been taught.
This includes all things whether you wanted them stored or not.
When you were a newborn babe you didn't really have a choice in what you were taught, but the storage center stored it anyway.
It is also known as the gatekeeper, in that it doesn't readily make changes.
It keeps the status quo for you and protects you from any changes, again, without your approval.
The conscious mind is the mover and shaker, meaning that it's all over the place.
It thinks all the time, and it thinks about the past and the future.
It worries for you.
Did you think you did the worrying? No, it's the conscious mind.
It scares you, and makes you anxious and creates all kinds of situations for you that are not in your best interest.
It is kind to you if you are a rocket scientist or a thoracic surgeon, or need to invent something.
But it doesn't really know when it is helping you or not.
That is your job.
To release anxiety and the reasons for your anxiety in order to start getting some sleep, you will have to do two things.
One is to quiet the conscious mind and the other is to reprogram the subconscious mind so it will know that it's OK for you to sleep.
The best and most natural way to accomplish this is through meditation.
