Getting through a breakup is a brutal thing to be stuck with, but it's not impossible to handle. In fact, a lot of people can manage to get over their breakup pain and even focus their efforts enough to get their ex back! There's no reason you can't be one of them, all you need is a plan!

That's where I come in. Here're a couple tips on how to keep from letting your breakup pain rule you while you make an active effort to get your ex back:

1) Don't turn to drugs or alcohol to get over your depression and anxiety during the breakup. It's natural to feel that way and it'll be hard to bear the pain, but if you allow yourself the easy way out of impaired judgement, you're just going to hurt yourself worse in the long run. A midnight phone call confessing your undying love and begging your ex to come back may seem like a good idea when you have some liquor in you, but come morning you'll understand just what you did...too late.

2) Sitting on the couch sobbing into a gallon of ice cream like we've all seen in countless movies is an indulgence that you don't need to allow yourself. It gets you nowhere and only lets your sadness fester and grow like an infection until it devours you alive. The key to overcoming your breakup pain is to accept it and stand up under it, doing what you have to regardless of how you feel. With the proper force of will, you can continue to function in spite of feeling like you've had your heart torn out...and that strength will help you to be a lot more attractive to your ex. I know it's hard in the beginning, but it helps you heal a lot better than succumbing to the helpless feelings.

3) Go on a total rampage of self-improvement. Do things like get your teeth whitened or straightened if they need it, or update your wardrobe to be full of in-fashion clothes that suit you and compliment your style. Lose those couple pounds you've been giving the evil eye in the mirror for the past few weeks. Stuff like this will maximize your appearance, and help you feel more confident about yourself...not to mention it'll get your ex's interest if he or she happens to see you looking better than ever.

4) Go out and have a good time with your friends, even if inside you really don't feel like leaving your house. Surrounding yourself with people who care about you is good for you, and it helps you relax and get over your pain easier. Hitting the club and checking out the local singles is a good idea even if you intend to get back with your ex, because the attention they give you will boost your confidence and help you get over your pain...plus it can even make your ex a little jealous if it looks like you're moving on without a second thought.

These things are so good for you in so many ways...not only do they help you to grow as a person and get over your breakup hurt, but a lot of them are actually beneficial to "passively" getting back your ex, that is working your ex without ever making a forward move. This technique is actually a lot more effective than aggressively trying to win your ex back, because usually those just cause more pressure and alienation on your ex and actually do more to lose the battle than to win it.
